The Gods Are At It Again

I'm nearly done with Dan Simmons Olympos, which is simply an awesome book. It's technically a sequel, and while that would usually bother me this sounded too interesting to pass up. Besides, it only cost me $1 ^^;

It features some of the most interesting things that you could possibly put into a book: sci-fi, robots, aliens, multiple dimensional travel, Greek gods and goddesses, genetic engineering, battles for life and death, apocalypse on both a local and global scale, and plenty of other goodness!

It is the sequel to Ilium, and runs a grand total of 735 pages in length. For some reason lately I have been picking up very long books. I think my last book was the Tom Clancy novel Red Storm Rising, which ran nearly 1,400 pages long. I wouldn't mind rereading Alhazred, which was somewhere in the 800s.

Actually, I really would like to reread this one book, but I can only remember enough to describe it to someone who has already read it. If someone had read it before, they would know what I was talking about. Otherwise it would sound like I was babbling, which is roughly what I'd be doing anyways ;P

Pixel Power!

I have tried out some isometric pixel work, but so far I am failing pretty hard ^^; Maybe I am just not cut out of it... or maybe I am just trying to do things a bit too complex for me to start with! I need to try again, come up with something simpler and see if that works to get me started. Maybe I could try some of the furniture in my room or something?

Scripts, Styles, and Mods

I seriously can't wait for deviantTIDY to become compatible with V6. I want to really mess around with it, but I never got a good chance to before the version change. There are certainly things that could be improved in V6, and I am hoping that deviantTIDY does the job. Right now I am using a variety of scripts and CSS styles to either improve or pretty up deviantART. It would be nice if people would stop submitting things into the scripts and such categories that don't belong in there... pisses me off, and makes it harder to find the actual scripts and such.

Oh wait, there is more?

I realized today that I adore the song See You Again by Miley Cyrus. I've had it on look for probably a good 30-60 minutes now, which is unusual for me. Probably will switch off it to something else soon before I burn myself out on it ^^;

I'm actually debating trying to re-skin deviantART, just because I am pretty bored right now. Don't know if I have the motivation for it, so only time will tell. Odds are it won't happen, but it sure is fun to think about the possibilities of what could be done! Oh yeah, I'm also using a new journal skin :D

So I picked up Advance Wars: Days of Ruin last night. I like the fact that it is grittier, not so bright and cheerful like the previous three Advance Wars games, and I am happy to be introduced to a new cast and world to play around in. As for a scoring on it, I haven't had it long enough to give one yet. Currently I am on the 13th mission or something in campaign mode, and have completed a couple of the trial missions as well. Those things are pretty hard actually!

I absolutely adore Isabella, and Will is pretty awesome too. Brenner may be kind of a hard ass, but he is an overall nice guy. There have been a few people on the supposed "good" side that have pissed me off, namely the mayor and the good guy's general. The bad guys seem to have the better general... he is a total gentleman, and as such is ultra sexy :D

Anyways, I noticed that I am not watching any space artists anymore, which is a very sad thing indeed. I have watched several new people now, and also started my Spacescapes & Planets collection to keep them all nice and comfy together ^^;

Oh, look at all the pretty colors

Bleh, late late late late late ^^; I would've posted this sooner, but I got up pretty late today (7:30 pm) and didn't even use my computer until several hours later. Anyways, a (slightly) late Happy 4th of July to everyone out there! :ahoy:

I actually got to some fireworks at the park during the night, and it was impressive, plus a little bit nerve wracking. Out here you can shoot off fireworks year round, and you can even buy some really big ones, like you might find in a fireworks show.

Me and my sister were able to get right in the center of it all at the park, having fireworks going off on three sides of us, and all over the sky above us as well :D

It was loud, really loud, but it was very interesting. Usually you are forced to sit back far away, or have a small show at home with tiny fireworks, but there were probably 50 or so cars, maybe more, by the time we left. Even like an hour or more later we could still see the fireworks at the park from our house!

We finally had to sit in the car because the smoke was thick, hard to breath in, and we were downwind of it inside the park. We ended up getting shot at while in the car though! Some idiot was holding a firework in their hands, shooting it off parallel to the ground, instead of up into the air, and several of the sparks shot at our car, one of which actually went into it, right in between me and my sister. It had all of like three inches of space to work through, or it would've hit us instead!

I finally finished reading Executive Orders by Tom Clancy, which turned out to be a fun, but long, read. The book is 1,358 pages long, which is the longest book I have ever read. It was good though, I really liked it, although it seemed to end a bit too abruptly for my tastes, and I never did find out what had happened to those conniving Mountain Men ^^;

I also finally replaced my headphones that died a week or two ago, this time with a pair from Philips. They are a bit bigger than the last ones, and actually seem to go completely around my ears for once ;P

They are actually intended for watching TV and whatnot, coming with an adapter and a 20' cord, which may be a bit of overkill for me most of the time. I guess if I want to listen to the music on my computer while laying in bed at night, they should come in quite handy... my last pair barely stretched across the room. Actually, they were about three feet shy of making it, but it worked with some finessing the few times I did it.

Well, since it is the Fourth of July, I think it would be apt to feature some art set to the them, eh? So let's get started here, kay? :D

Hehe, I want to first apologize to all of you who are getting bombarded with :+fav:'s from me. I had somewhere along the lines of 1,200 deviations in my message center, the result of not really spending any time on dA for months and months ^^;

I'm down to 376 right now, so hopefully I'll have them all cleared out either today or within the next few days. I'm betting it is only a matter of time before someone harasses me about faving and running, but I only fav things I like and skip things I don't. I'm also a pretty busy person, so it gets difficult to comment on everything. Besides, most of the time I can only think of something like, "I like this," which is effectively what a :+fav: says, so it feels like a waste to comment with just that ^^;

So, I finally picked up some new earrings! I got two pairs, one with peridot and one with citrine. Both are 14k gold, and the gemstones aren't that big, but they also aren't way too tiny, so it is good. I only had to pay $12 each, so it was a pretty good deal for me :D

Peridot is one of my favorite gems, because it has one of my four favorite colors (blue, pink, green, orange) and it is lighter than normal green but not so light that it is pale. I like my colors to have a nice amount of saturation to them, while still being lightish... more like medium-light (as in in between light and medium) ^^;

I also picked up two new games for the PS2. I got a new copy of Soul Caliber III for half off, and a used copy of the original TimeSplitters. I still say that TS3 is my favorite of the series, but it is interesting to go back and see how it all started.

Anyways, I've been putting more of my time into SC3, so I haven't had a chance to play it much. I do like fighting games, but I kinda suck because I can't really remember any of the buttons combos to pull off all the different moves, so I sorta half button mash, half try and do something that I know is a move or whatever ^^;

I really want to draw Voldo, cause he is so awesome in a weird, creepy but sexy sort of way :P I think I am getting better with him, although Lizardman is kind of nice as well. Usually I'm better with the girl fighters, because I do better with fast characters, rather than the slow but powerful ones. So far I am having trouble finding a girl I am good with ^^;

Well, that's it for now. Make sure to check out this days featured artist below!

Well, my sister took the good name for an FF3 journal entry that I came up with, so let's stick with an earlier suggestion, eh? The update went fairly smoothly, although several commonly used extensions are going to have to be "coerced" into playing nice with FF3 using Mr. Tech's Toolkit... luckily there was a dev build of Tab Mix Plus that works with FF3, because I heavily rely on its features.

And I guess that is basically it. I know, I know, no new art updates or anything... guess I need to whip out the old art bag and start getting to work again, eh?

Oh oh! Today I also subscribed to dA again, so maybe that will encourage me to try and draw again ^^;
